[WorkForce Investment Act] How To Find Us Map of all WorkForce West Virginia Regions Send us your comments or questions |
WorkForce Investment ActThe WorkForce Investment Act (WIA) is a Federally-funded program designed for people who are unemployed or underemployed to gain marketable skills for this area. If you are currently seeking employment, have been laid-off, your business has shut down, or you have been terminated from employment, you may benefit from this program.
Adult ProgramsAvailable training programs consist of basic skills training, occupations skills training or on-the-job training. Since our goal is to get you retrained and back out into the workforce, training is limited to those occupations that are marketable or growing in the local area. To explore available training in our area click here.
Youth ProgramsThe WorkForce Investment Act also provides funding for occupational exploration, basic skills development, work readiness preparation and other services for the youth of our community ages 14-21. Some program and eligibility restrictions may apply, but the goal of the programs is to prepare an individual for the world of work; be it post-high school employment, or post-secondary education to further prepare for a career.
Training DollarsFunding may be available for programs lasting four weeks to programs that last two years. Please contact a WIA case manager for further details.
If you are interested in going to school using the WIA money, the first step is to be registered with your local WorkForce office. If you have not done so, click here. Once you are registered or if you are registered, please contact our office for additional information. [Home] [Return To Top]
